Why it's so important to help.

Many athletic and after-school programs are underfunded, and lack basic equipment or safe facilities. Often these same underfunded programs are serving economically disadvantaged youth – the ones who could benefit most from extracurricular activities.

According to the Department of Human and Health Services, “Studies show that quality after-school programs can help prevent crime, juvenile delinquency and violent victimization.”

Not only do these programs keep kids safe and out of trouble, extracurricular activities help them gain confidence and learn beneficial social skills like peaceful conflict resolution. Youths participating in extracurricular programs tend to get better grades too.

“Why am I so passionate about giving back?

I was one of those unfortunate kids who used to watch my classmates participate in extracurricular activities and always wondered how I would have turned out if I was provided the opportunity to participate as well.”
